Patient : I am 73, and recovering from a severe attack of shingles. This is my second attack, the first was 45 years ago. This time the rash appeared on my right upper torso, back, side and breast, which was the most painful area. After six weeks I've pretty well recovered except for the breast which is still swollen and extremely painful, and the scabbing has not cleared up there. I do get tingling and numbness but the deep-seated pain is different. I am unable to wear a bra, even a larger size, because of the pain. What can I do to reduce the swelling and alleviate the pain?
