Shortness of breath

Q: I have always been very active both with cardio (running 3-5 miles a few times a week) and strength training. Recently I have been short of breath, feeling winded and feel my heart pounding in my chest even after a short walk. I'm also not able to run nearly as far as I was able to just a few weeks ago.
