Should I get PEP Rabbies shot?

Patient

Q: My family has 2 outside dogs with a outdoor pen area. A rabid raccoon was pacing outside the dogs pen, and both dogs were barking and trying to dig through underneath the fence. It is unknown if they had direct contact or not. Both dogs rabies vaccines run out in about 6 months. We got the dogs a booster shot about 5 days later to be on the safe side. My question is that should my family get a PEP rabies shot because of the saliva contact with the dogs? OR should we be fine since the dogs still were not due for rabies shots for another 5 months?
