Shoulder numbness and finger tingling.

Patient: My left shoulder will go numb when lying down or leaning on a desk with my elbows and at the same time my thumb and index finger will start to tingle. What could this be?

Doctor: The numbness in your left shoulder and hand as you described it might be due to a cervical nerve compression (C7-C8), b but it would be important to rule out inflammation of the peripheral nerves at the level of the arm and hand, meaning a Carpal tunnel Syndrome.
