Patient : I have noticed a layer of skin from my perineum (or what seems like from my perineum) that has been growing over my vagina. The piece of skin is covering about half of my vaginal opening, and it feels like it's closing up my vagina. The actual opening itself does not have any skin growth or closing. However, the skin growth from my perineum is pretty significant; it is easily visible and I can grasp it with the tips of my fingers. It's smooth with no lumps and it makes inserting a tampon somewhat painful. I have not had sexual intercourse in a long time, but I'm sure it would be extremely pain. Something like this has never happened to me before, so it completely baffles me on what's going on down there. Is this normal? Could this just be from the lack of sexual intercourse, or a hormone imbalance? Or is this something potentially serious and I should see my doctor?
