Skin color changing

Patient

Q: The other day my boyfriend and I were comparing the tans on our arms. We do this because it blows his mind that he works outside all day and I do not yet my arms or any part of my body exposed to the sun will get far darker than him but the skin that is not exposed to the sun will be much lighter than his. Such as the skin on my stomach. Well of course we went to compare the skin on our stomach and mine was darker! I don't know whether to be concerned or not. I work in home health and have been told by the nurses I have a healthy look to my skin and it doesn't look jaundiced. I do have a yearly physical scheduled for next month. So I guess I'm asking if I need to move my appointment up or not. And should I ask my doctor about it or is this normal.

Symptoms:  My skin is darker that's not exposed to the sun
