Skin peeling off from centre of tongue

Patient : Hi, My father checked blood sugar level last week and it was 240. his skin from tongue is peeling off and it looks like this is that a symptom of high blood sugar? he consulted a doctor and he said this was a symptom of blood sugar. am bit worried about this as its been around two weeks without any change. the only issue with this is it feels like burning when he eats spicy food. does it require further diagnosis or is it a symptom of blood sugar ?
