Patient : So, I'm starting to get involved with this guy and he has recently shared with me his hazy medical history. He was a very sick baby, had to undergo over seven surgeries because of his anemie and spine problems. Anyway, he also shared with me that he still struggles with some issues today as well, such as meningitis and toxoplasmosis. I didn't understand it at first, so I tried to inquire him about it without sounding rude or anything. Apparently, he has to monitorate the meningitis (and that's the important bit because he couldn't actually explain it) to avoid it from coming back and keep making sure everything's alright. I downright panicked. He said he had it as a baby so I don't understand how, 20 years later, he still has to take blood testes to take care of these diseases? Could you explain that better? Is he at any risk? Am I if I keep getting involved with him? Please, let me know!
