Patient : So I have a 4 week old baby boy He has had problems with colic andhad thrush at 2 weeks old. The dr prescribed nystatin and he was on it for four days and it made it way worse and so I stopped using that and started gentian violet. After four days the thrush was gone. Two days later I noticed these sores all over the inside of his mouth. I took him to the clinic and the NP said she "thinks" it's an allergy to the gentian violet. Then the next night he wouldn't eat and the sores were much worse si I took him to the er the dr said it was thrush again and to continue the gentian violet. So I did and even though it did not look at all Luke the thrush from before. It has been another 4 days and they have notcleared up in the least bit and last night he was drooling lots of blood from the sores and he also caught his brothers cold. I really don't trust that it's thrush and can't figure out what it could be.
