Stagnant hair growth and thinning

Q: I've always had finer textured hair, but a lot of it to where it appeared thick. As I got older, I got on birth control and have since been off for a year and a half. Ever since then, I feel as though my hair has gotten even finer and it hasn't grown but maybe 2 inches in that year and a half. Do you know why this is going on? I just started taking 5000 mcg of biotin after doing some research, but other than that I don't know what to do or what's causing this. I'm 27 years old, exercise, eat a very healthy diet (fish, veggies, fruits, natural gluten-free and organic goods). Any advice before being told to go and get blood work done would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
