Stenosis of Gastric Anastomosis

Patient: Why is full liquid diet prescribed after dilation of stenosis of gastric anastomosis? What are the repercussions of not following the diet?

Doctor: Such a diet is prescibed to avoid the potential complication of solid food becoming “stuck” at the gastric anastomosis a nd causing obstruction of the passage. If the this passage becomes blocked, there can be serious consequences with severe vomiting and dehydration which may lead to a coma and death.
