Stitches after Caesarian

Patient

Q: How long does it take for internal stitches to heal from a Caesarian. Can they tear open after 6 weeks,

Symptoms:  None
Doctor

A:   Thank you for your query.
After the C-section the internal sutures should heal by 3-4 weeks time. There are chances for them to open up in case of an infection. Infection being one of the major reason, or due to improper suturing or not taking apt care i.e. pressure due to various reasons at the site of incision. Uterus is one organ which contracts therefore it generally heals up sutures very fast.
Hope that answers your query. Have a good day.
