Stomping caused pain behind knee

Patient : When I stomped my foot this morning playing with my toddler. I got a serious pain at the bend of the knee but not behind the knee. It still hurts now twelve hours later. Should I just treat it like a sore muscle or do I need to get in to see my doctor?
Symptoms:  Pain on the inside back just above the bend of the knee -- not behind the knee. It hurts slightly most of the time, but severely if I kneel down or try to stand back up. Once in either position, the pain subsides to the slight pain, but the initial pain is very severe.
