Strained abs look abnormal

Patient : I strained my abdominal muscles about four days ago. I was practically unable to move for a few days, and now they feel a little better (I'm not working out just quite yet, but I can move around freely). The problem is that they look different; the slight definition that I had is now gone. The fat on my abdomen looks like it is distributed differently than it was before; I look fatter and have less of a waist, but I have not gained any weight. Is this normal for someone who has just strained their abs? Will they go back to normal in the near future?
