Patient : This is a question about abdominal pain and possibly muscles. I did not see the category for that. I would appreciate any help, because I am American and I have health insurance, but can not really afford the co-pay of 40 for a regular visit or 400 for the E.R. especially if it is unnecessary. When I woke up this morning, I stayed in bed for maybe 5 minutes and then when I went to sit up with my legs on bed, not swinging legs to floor if it makes any difference at all. When I started sitting up, I felt an immediate tightness and pulling in the right side of my stomach. It scared me and I immediately lay back down. I had reversed before even getting to 90 degrees-it was like a wall. So, I turned to my left side to see and the same thing happened, but I got up. It hurt but pretty much immediately went away. After work, I was getting out of my car and felt the same pulling, but I had gotten out of my car to go to work and did not feel it then. When I got home, I took a bit of a nap, and when I woke up I tried getting up from lying with my stomach down this time and had the same stretching and pulling feeling. It seems like a pretty specific spot, but I hope it is just a muscle pain because it does not really have any pain unless I move a seemingly certain way. What can I do before seeing a doctor to determine if it is a muscle or something else, or is there anything I can do to make it feel a little better?
