Stroke aftermath?

Patient

Q: My father had a stroke more than a week ago and is now bed-ridden and under observation in general hospital, depending on liquid food as he can't swallow properly. He's mostly paralysed on his left side of body and rather confused and disoriented, as he thinks that we're in another country when we're not. He's diagnosed to have high blood pressure and high cholesterol in his blood. I'm wondering if having fever and diarrhea during his stay in hospital for that 1 week is a sign of concern or just a normal case of infection? And is this a serious case of stroke and which specialist should we seek after we discharge him from the current hospital?
