Surgery affect fertility?

Patient : When my husband was a baby, he was born with 2 "pee holes." He had surgery to correct this. I'm wondering if that is something that could affect fertility? I only ask because he had surgery for diverticulitis last year (he is only 28) and the surgeon had to call in the Urologist to insert the catheter because of his penis structure or the size of the hole or something. The surgeon believed that this was a result of the surgery he had as a baby. He doesn't have any noticeable problems and we only JUST started trying to conceive. But this has been on my mind.
