Thank you for your question. Tri-sprintec is a combination oral contraceptive medication that contains two medications namely, Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol. If you suspect that you have become pregnant while on this medication, for example by missing a few daily doses and having unprotected sex, it is possible to avail yourself of emergency contraception such as plan b. This medication prevents the fertilization and/or implantation of a fertilized ovum in the placenta, thereby preventing pregnancy. It is most affective when taken within 24 hours of unprotected sexual intercourse. Taken plan b can result in spotting, and abdominal cramping, similar to when you are having your monthly menstrual period.
