Taking Medicine for extended period of time

Q: My mother has been taking Traivil for 41 years now in generic. Her dosage started at1 na somehow was increased in the last couple of years to 4 a day. How bad is it to take this drug for 41 years. She is back prescribed to take 1 however she feels the need for 2. She wakes up in the night and says her apin makes her very nervous, which other problems do cause her tremendous pain and she takes hydrocodone for the pain. She is on ALOT of medicine but 41 years?
