Teenage Knee Pain that Appears Unrelated to Growing
Patient : Hello, I am a 17 year old female of average height and weight who suffers from knee pain. The pain only occurs in my right knee, and feels like 'growing pain' (a cold, dull, intense ache); however, it occurs almost weekly, and much more often when exposed to prolonged periods of cold. I have been 5'4" for about 3 years, and my pediatrician thinks I have stopped growing. I have also not experienced 'growing pain' in any other joints for about 2 years. The sheer number of times it has occurred and the specific location leads me to believe it is not connected to any sort of growth. About 4 years ago, I fell quite hard on the knee in question, but my pediatrician did not find anything wrong at the time of the injury. Is there any chance I damaged something that my doctor missed, and am now feeling it's effects? If not, what could be causing the pain?
