Testing for STD's in throat vs. genitals

Patient

Q: Does an antibiotic cure chlamydia in all regions of body (throat and genitals)?

Symptoms:  Sore throat, sore pelvis
Doctor

A:   Hi,
Thanks for the query.
I understand your concern.
Yes, in around 95% of cases antibiotics can cure chlamydia in all regions of the body.
For elimination of infection, total course of the antibiotics should be taken.
To prevent recurrence both partners should be treated simultaneously and intercourse should be avoided during treatment.
Take care.
