Thirteen month old refuses to eat

Patient

Q: Dear Dr,

My 13 month old as always been incredibly sensitive when it comes to textures and has always refused anything "solid" or "lumpy". Recently we had been able to get him to take small peices of toast, oatmeal, and muffins. Now he refuses everything again. He won't eat anything but yogurt or applesauce. I don't know what to do!!! He's a chubby little guy so I know he's gaining weight but i'm not sure what to do. He cannot, not eat. When he was a baby, he would gag until he choked or threw up. How do I get him to eat? and should I put him back on formula? He doesn't self feed either (when he was eating the few items listed above) Yet he can pick up not edible items and put them in his mouth.
