Toddler has a knot with a dent in it on her forehead

Q: Dear Doctor,
My toddler fell pretty hard two days ago at her Grandma's house. She hit her forehead on the edge of a sharp wooden edge. She cried very hard, and then fell asleep for about 3 hours. She woke perfectly fine; happy in fact. But she had a large purple red knot, about 2 inches, on her forehead with a dent within the knot. I'm concerned that she will have a permanent dent on her forehead. What can I do so that this does not happen?
