Torn meniscus and dr is making me wait for surgery
Patient : I hurt my knee while climbing a pyramid, felt a pop at time of injury with pain and swelling. My MRI shows a torn meniscus. My family doctor says I need surgery. Radiologist recommended surgery. The ortho dr I was sent to is hesitant to do surgery due to arthroscopic meniscus repairs in 1993, 1994 and 1999. Coupled with patellar tendinitis he feels we should wait due to that, my history and my age 41. The patellar tendon is inflamed, but doesn't hurt. The pain is relentless and is coming from deep in my knee. It has been 2 mos since injury and I am miserable. Friends and family are beginning to question this doctor. I don't know what to do, it is making my life miserable. Affecting my everyday life and sleep. Advice?? Ps can't take anti-inflammatories of any kind due to previous kidney failure and kidney issues. Also tried steroid injection and only relief was the lidocaine.
