Patient : I have an unusual body odor that seems to be originating from my stomach. It is intermittent and the smell can range in type from garbage to mustiness - however mostly it smells like something burning. When the smell begins it's accompanied by a feeling similar to heartburn or a mild feeling when you're about to get a throat infection or congestion but very, very mild and it's not uncomfortable or painful. The smell lasts for hours or days and takes up an entire room and the smell remains airborne for weeks. Since June I have started to experience constipation to the point where I cannot eliminate for days despite increased water and fibe and I never had a problem before. I have had a colonoscopy - which was normal - no polyps. I have done colonics, taken various vitamins and supplements, liquid chlorophyll, activated charcoal, garlic, digestive enzymes, elimination diets, fasting, increased water intake, laxatives all to no avail and it's not a hygiene issue. Antibiotics reduce the smell approximately 80% but it always comes back. I have no infection that I know of, nor pain. I am about to undergo a TMAU choline load urine test but in the meantime I want to explore other options. I am desperate.
