Patient : Hi, I am a 21 year old male, I am 6'0" tall and weigh 155 pounds. This is embarrassing but I have a strong odor that originates from my rectum area, it smell like normal b.o. but very pungent. I recently asked my doctor about it and he examined the area but found nothing wrong externally. I told him I often times wipe a little too vigorously and he suggested I take it easy and use a antibacterial soap in the area. I am a very hygienic person, I take two showers a day, use deodorant and other good smelling products and I have also have tried every powder and special creams meant for that area. However, nothing I have tried works and I'm not about to put a antiperspirant on that particular area. I also asked my doctor about using a antibacterial cream but he said he didn't see how it could be effective. I should also note I did not notice the odor until about a year ago soon after taking Lexapro. I suffer from severe anxiety which might also be a cause. I began to sweat heavily in the groin and anal area after taking the medicine. I would just like to know if there is anything I can do or perhaps there is some type of bacterial infection or some other underlying cause. Thank you.
