Unusual menstrual cycle possible implanon problem

Q: I've had the birth control implanon for 5 years. The first one for 3 years and the second was inserted 2 1/2 years ago, I should be getting it out May 2016. During the 5 years I've had the symptoms of basically no menstrual cycle, occasional spotting here and there but no full menstrual cycle until now. During the past three weeks I've had a full menstrual cycle twice and I'm curious if its possible my implant could not be working anymore? I've had the implant for so long that my body is use to it so why would my body react so different to it now. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
