Vaginal dryness and pain

Patient: My vagina hasn’t been the same since I gave birth to my 11 month old. I’m very dry all the time, even when very aroused during intercourse. Also, in the shower I find that when I am washing my vagina, if the soap sits against my skin too long, my vagina (specifically clitoris region) stings, even burns in some places. I examine myself and there are red spots, and sometimes a tiny bit of blood, as if it were very badly chafed. Is this just a change in hormones since I had my baby? Are there any topical creams I can use regularly that will heal these sore spots? They don’t seem to go away, and sex is barely tolerable. Help please!
