Vaginal Pain

Q: Hi,

I am 20 years old and have noticed that my vaginal area has been irritated throughout this summer. This has happened in past summers but seems to be worse this year. I have tried all the tricks such as avoiding a wet bathing suit, wiping front to back, and not wearing thongs. I feel itchy, dry, and uncomfortable down there and some days are worse than others. I may go a couple weeks without anything but as soon as I use a tampon or wear a bathing suit it seems to start all over again. I have even given myself a self-exam and noticed it can be red and at times have irritated bumps. I recently went to my OBGYN and they said I was healthy. Is this something I should take more seriously? Is there anything I can do to help this irritating problem?

I appreciate any advise you have.
