Vaginismus?

Patient

Q: Hello Doctor,

I've been with my boyfriend for about 8 months now, and during the first 6 months our sex life was great and completely fine. Recently, sex has become painful, no matter how much lube we use. It's almost as if my muscles are not working, or expanding. I went to planned parenthood about a month ago for a pelvic exam and they said everything looked healthy but one of my vaginal muscles did seem really tense. As if it was going into spasm. She told me it was nothing to worry about it, and it should go away sometime soon. Sadly, it has not gone away. I have no burning, or itching, or discharge. And it only hurts during sex. It feels like it stings, and it hurts more on one side than the other. I am starting to worry if it is vaginismus, because I know that is uncurable. What should I do? Go see another doctor about this? Or will the spasm fade? Or could it be a serious infection? Please help, I do not want my sex life to be ruined forever.
