Vomiting Toddler

Patient : My 3 yr old has been having these episodes every few months where she vomits for 2 to 3 days at a time. It happens every 3 months or so and she vomits mostly in the mornings for more than 24 hrs. Afterwards her tummy is a bit tight and swollen for about half an hour. Once the vomitting spell is over she is back to normal, eating and playing as usual. She has no other major problems outside of this besides the common colds and such. I have taken her to the Dr. concerning this but the answer I always get is that its a stomach virus and to let it run its course and keep her hydrated. Is this something of major concern?
Symptoms:  No fever, no coughing, no runny nose
