What should i do about streaks of blood in my stool?
Patient : For the past week and a half, i have noticed blood in my stool. It has begun to worry me and so I have started to keep an eye on it each time I pass stool. I noticed it is usually a normal red color and that it consists of two streaks on opposite sides after I don't go for 12 hours, but when I go later that day, there will be more blood. My stomach feels a little discomfort, almost like gas is building up. I don't have insurance, and am hoping it is something that is not serious and will clear up after a while. I think I was recently constipated and passed a larger than normal stool but am not certain. I am 19 years old and have no family history of cancer in that region. I am also a student without a job at the moment so have little to no money most of the time. I would just like some advice on what I could do if it is something less serious such as a tear, or if it is a hemroid, what i can do to keep it under control outside of going to a doctor. I know going to one will be the best thing, but cant at the moment until I can get into the ACCESS program where I live. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
