Why is my bottom lip numb after having an UGI?

Patient

Q: Why is my bottom lip numb after having an UGI?

Doctor

A:   Hi
Thanks for you query, albeit small and specific.

The causes of the numbness of the bottom lip after UGI Endoscopy are:
- The topical anesthesia still is working on the lower lip.
-It is possible that the instrument through which the endoscope passes make a trauma at the base of the lip casing neuropraxia.
In a normal course this is fully reversible, nothing much to worry about.

Hope this helps.
